How do you know when you've walked 10,000 steps?

Get a pedometer - a small digital gadget that straps to your waistband and monitors the number of steps you take.
You can find many types of pedometers in lifestyle or sports stores throughout Hong Kong. A basic pedometer costs about $100. If you fancy a multifunctional gadget, look out for more expensive models with an MP3 player, FM radio, stopwatch and calorie counter.
If your pedometer does not read heart rates, you can measure it yourself by pressing a finger on your wrist or neck and counting your pulse for 15 seconds. Multiply the figure by four to measure your heart rate per minute.
