Exam authority misprinted HKCEE results for 670 students
Updated at 6.41pm: The examination authority has misprinted this year's Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) exam results for 670 students due to human and computer errors, local media reported on Friday.
Examination and Assessment Authority Chairman Irving Koo Yee-yin said the errors occurred only to Syllabus B English language exam results. No other papers from this year' HKCEE exams were affected, he said.
The Syllabus B English language exam, which consists of writing, English usage, listening and oral sections, is the most commonly accepted yardstick for measuring English skills in the territory.
Results are expressed in six grades, from the highest grade A to the lowest grade F - which means a failure. Candidates who perform so badly as to get a grade F are rated 'unclassified'.
The 670 affected students had their oral section results misprinted in their reports. Some had them miswritten as grade F, instead of the grade A they actually scored, local radio reported.
Mr Koo said an examination authority IT senior manager had resigned and one was suspended for the errors.
