Prelude: Movie-goers may well remember this summer's film season as the one filled with zebras. The striped animal has already starred in DreamWorks' animation Madagascar and South Korean tear-jerker Marathon. Only Ewan McGregor can match the creature's star power. Both have starred in three movies each this summer.
The story: Stripes (Muniz), a baby zebra, is rescued by horse farmer Nolan Walsh (Greenwood) and his daughter Channing (Panettiere) after being left behind by a travelling circus.
The Walshes take Stripes home, where they house him in a barnyard with a gang of animal misfits, including grumpy pony Tucker (Hoffman) and an old goat called Fanny (Goldberg).
Stripes grows up believing that he is a horse. His ambition is to race against highly skilled thoroughbreds in the prestigious Kentucky Open. Coincidentally, Channing has always wanted to be a jockey but has long been deterred by her overprotective father.
