HK trio killed in bus crash

Three Hong Kong residents were killed and eight injured early yesterday when a truck collided with the bus they were travelling in near Shenzhen.

The accident occurred at about 2.30am as the bus, all of whose passengers were Hongkongers, was struck by the truck at an accident black spot on the Huilai section of the Shenshan highway.

The bus was travelling from Fuzhou to Shenzhen.

Two men and one woman were killed and four men and four women injured. The injured were taken to hospital in Shenzhen. Two were still in hospital last night.

The Hong Kong government said two immigration officers had been sent to help the victims. Staff have also contacted relatives of the dead and injured to see what assistance they can offer.
