Kinney Chan, of interior design firm Kinney Chan & Associates, is an executive member of the Hong Kong Interior Design Association. The 38-year-old  has designed  the interiors of about 50 local restaurants, including Boca in SoHo and Brown in Happy Valley.

Favourite furniture shops:

'I like its Southeast Asian antique-style wooden furniture.  A lot  of its products are art pieces in themselves, especially its beautiful candle stands.'

'I like its contemporary and simple design, which is particularly  suited to Hong Kong's restaurants and modern homes.'

'I like Habitat's sophisticated design, which is delicate without being complicated or gaudy.'

Favourite market: Camden Market in London

'It may not be the largest flea market for furniture or homeware, but with some patience, you can find nice antiques.  Shopping there is like a treasure hunt.'

Favourite items at home: 'A wooden candle stand [$500] carved with a geometric pattern from Tequila Kola. A black, foldable rubbish bin [$360] made of iron mesh, from Habitat in London. I like the simple design.'

What's on top of your wish list?

'An Eames lounge chair with ottoman. The side is made from bent plywood and the seat from leather. It's big without being cumbersome  [about $31,000 from Tint Living, 5 Pennington Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 3104 3104].'
