CLASSIC MUSICAL IN CANTONESE

The Chung Ying Theatre will present a Cantonese version of the classic musical Les Miserables.

The play is based on a novel written by Victor Hugo in 1862. The story revolves around Jean Valjean, who is sentenced to 19 years' imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread. After his release, he attempts to start a new life and make the world a better place.

The Cantonese production is directed by Peter Jordan, a senior drama lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

The musical will run from Friday until September 3 at 7.30pm - with matinees at 2.30pm on Sunday, September 3 and 4 - at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Studio Theatre.
