ESPRIT is on sale - not the trendy and fashionable clothes, but shares in the popular company.
Esprit Asia Holdings, which holds US Esprit de Corp's distribution businesses in Asia, plans a listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
Established in the early 1980s, Esprit Asia operates under the umbrella of Esprit Far East which was established in 1974 as the sourcing arm of Esprit de Corp.
Since then, it has built up its retail and wholesale networks in Asia, now the company's major profit contributors, selling products ranging from clothing to shoes, accessories and body care products.
By June this year, Esprit Asia controlled 71 retail outlets in Asia - in Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and China. The 24 retail outlets in Hong Kong are all rented.
There are also wholesale outlets in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Guam and Kuwait.
