PEDESTRIANS were forced to take a detour or struggle through mud yesterday after a landslide in Shamshuipo filled a street with tonnes of turf. A government spokesman said the slip was probably due to already unsettled earth being loosened by recent heavy rain. ''It hasn't rained hard for a few days so it is likely the cliff was already seriously eroded and last week's downpour made it worse resulting in the slip,'' he said. However, despite a private light bus, a car and a lorry being partially buried on Wing Hong Street, no one was trapped or injured. The Works Branch managed to clear the road by the afternoon.
