A minibus is forced off the road at the start of yesterday's Thaiquain Cup in Pak Tam Chung as 600 runners vie for honours in the first local road race after the summer break. Mark Williams, a teacher, shrugged off the lingering effects of a virus to win the 10km race in 35 minutes and 40 seconds. 'I trained and raced quite well over the summer at home in Wales but I picked up a virus that has been hard to shake off,' said Williams, 34. Chan Kit-yee, 32, took the overall honours in the women's race in a time of 42:32. Tong Mei-ling placed second overall in 45:16, while Ho So-han came third just 11 seconds behind to claim the top spot in the women's open division.
