The Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDC) will celebrate the Hong Kong spirit and promote artistic creativity with its new dance work Tempo of Hong Kong.

Directed and choreographed by HKDC artistic director Hu Jialu, Tempo of Hong Kong will be staged from October 14 to 16.

The dance show is about how Hong Kong people, once lost in the mechanical metropolitan life, are reawakened by creativity and resilience - the essence of Hong Kong culture.

It portrays what makes Hong Kong a city of eternal life and reveals  the versatility and   can-do

spirit that Hong Kong

people displayed  during and after the Asian financial turmoil.

'Hong Kong is often dismissed as a cultural desert, but I see her as a beautiful oasis where Chinese and western cultures converge and thrive,' said  Hu.

Tempo of Hong Kong will be staged  at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Tickets from $90 to $180 are available at all Urbtix outlets.

Students can enjoy a 50 per cent discount.
