Professional drivers demand fuel tax cut
Demands are growing from embattled drivers for a cut in fuel taxes as the chief executive's policy address approaches. Thirty professional drivers marched to the Central Government Offices yesterday chanting slogans and waving placards, urging the government to cut the tax.
'The monthly expenditure of professional drivers has increased 50 per cent as fuel prices have soared by almost 30 per cent in the past year,' said Motor Transport Workers General Union chairman Li Wing-sang.
