Zhang finishes off opponent in seconds
Chinese powerhouse Zhang Qingjun, dubbed the 'Tiger of Fujian', lived up to his name once again as he won his third straight Hong Kong fight the Queen Elizabeth Stadium last night.
The 22-year-old is best remembered as the chubby mainlander who twice defeated Alain 'The Panther' N'Galani and the youngster was another class act as he scored a quick knockdown of his latest opponent, Marek 'The Jet' Boguscewicz of Britain.
Zhang extended his record to 24 wins from 26 fights as he grabbed the WBC heavyweight intercontinental Asia title (100 kgs).
It took less than 20 seconds for Zhang to score one of the night's fastest knockouts. It was the first WBC title fight held in Hong Kong and Zhang won in spectacular fashion to add to his IMG and K-1 championship belts.
Zhang, the China IMF (International Muay Thai Federation) title holder came straight out from the opening bell, scoring a series of unanswered blows as Boguscewicz hit the canvas after just five seconds.
He got up only to be sent to the floor again after another barrage of kicks and punches.
