Wardrobe staple?

Black suits.  Being part of the hotel industry means  I have to dress  formal, so I practically live  in suits. I love Giorgio Armani, Narciso Rodriguez and Calvin Klein.  I just bought a fantastic new suit by Chloe,  which makes me look tall and slim.

Fashion don'ts?

Don't be a fashion victim and follow trends that don't suit  you.

Handbag pick for this season?

I'm one of those people who wears something to death. I've been carrying my Bottega Veneta bag all year. I just got back from Milan, though, and bought myself the new  Araline Mulberry bag.

Favourite shoe designer?

Christian Louboutin.  Outside  work, I'm usually in my K-Swiss tennis shoes.

Must-have accessory?

A watch. I'm obsessed with time.  I either wear my Hermes or  my Cartier watches.  I also love earrings. Brigetta makes great 'going out' earrings.

Most cherished fashion item?

I have a vintage black-beaded clutch that my mother used  to carry in the 1950s. The workmanship on  it is so intricate.

Who'd design your Oscars dress?

I love old-fashioned Hollywood glamour. A vintage gown by  Elsa Schiaparelli would be beautiful. But for the ultimate red-carpet, drop-dead gorgeous couture gown, it would have to be Dior.

Style icon?

Elle Macpherson and the late Tina Chow.  Chow was the  first Eurasian model/New York socialite to be a muse and an inspiration to several designers and artists in the 70s and 80s, such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Manolo Blahnik.

Favourite film costume?

I'm an old-film buff. I love the haute couture in Funny Face,  the film-noir tailoring of The  Thin Man and the mod-style  of The Thomas Crown Affair.

Most expensive fashion item?

If I buy something expensive, it has to be classic. My Dolce & Gabbana cashmere winter coat has held up to the test of time.

Your fashion style?

I'm pretty conservative. I prefer classic, tailored, elegant styles. In addition to the brands I wear for work, I love Dries Van Noten's style for nights out. But weekends are definitely casual. Citizens  of Humanity make great jeans, which I wear with old T-shirts.

Boho or ladylike?

Definitely ladylike.

Flats or stilettos?

Stilettos at work, but I prefer flats on the weekends. Marc Jacobs, Prada and Tod's make great flats.

High-end or high-street?

Both. High-end for work and high-street for casual. I'm a big fan of Zara and  Lululemon.

Favourite Asian designer?

Vivienne Tam. She designs  stretchy and comfortable tops  that I wear underneath my suits. Her kimono tops are a favourite  when I go out.

Fashion disaster?

I  wore a beautiful hand-embroidered Dries Van Noten skirt to a wedding recently. Unfortunately, my beaded evening bag kept hooking into the threads of the skirt. By the end of the evening,  there were threads hanging down to my ankles.
