Every year, students have the chance to gain a better understanding of Hong Kong's history and culture by joining the Inter-school Competition of Study Projects. The theme of this year's competition, jointly organised by the Museum of History and the Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Culture, is 'Social Organisations and the Development of Hong Kong'. The competition is divided into junior and senior divisions for Forms One to Three and Forms Four to Seven respectively. Participants must work in groups of two to 10 students under the guidance of one or two teachers. Entries should be in a written format and can be supplemented by CD-ROMs, videos, models, artefacts, photo albums or cassette tapes, although this is not compulsory. The written reports will be judged according to their relevance to the theme, systematic use of collected data, objectivity in analysis, concrete analysis of the topic, bibliography and footnotes, and overall production quality. The deadline for applications is November 11. An outline of the project should be submitted along with the application form. Last year's winning projects are on display at the Museum of History until September 26. For more information, call 2724 9026.
