10 THINGS i know
1 The first piece of advice I would give to someone who wants to set up their own business is to write down your overheads and ask yourself whether you can afford them for a minimum of six to 12 months. If you cannot, then do not do it.
2 There is nothing shameful about failure. If you think you have found your niche and you are committed to the idea, then go for it. Do not let anyone stop you.
3 Running your own business means the end of life as you know it. You will have no time for anything other than your family and your business.
4 Four days away is as good as a holiday and you need to take breaks as often as you can. A psycho boss is not a good boss.
5 You have to be kind to yourself and realise that you are never going to be infallible. There are some things you will never be good at and you should pay other people to do those things.
6 Keeping in personal touch with long-term clients is vital. If they call up and do not get you, they will walk away and they are the best advertising you can get.
