Young people have been urged to think on a global scale and develop a broad and long-term vision in order to become good leaders in future.

A total of 32 first-year students from seven local universities joined the Young Leaders Programme 2005 in April.

Organised by the AIA Foundation under the theme 'Commit Today for Tomorrow', the five-month programme included a series of workshops on leadership and communication skills.

The students also took part in a seven-day Outward Bound camp and organised voluntary activities to show their concern for society.

The camp included physically demanding activities that helped the participants develop team spirit and taught them to be brave in the face of adversity.

In July, they went to Singapore and met university students there. They also visited several leading companies in the Lion City. At the end of the programme, the students were divided into groups and presented their projects.

Raymond Kan Wai-man, Carmen Lau Ka-man, Archie Ng Ying-kei and Mimi Tse Wing-yi from the University of Hong Kong outshone their counterparts by clinching all the major awards in the competition. They won the Best Report-Writing, Best Presentation and Most Outstanding Team awards.
