Guangdong labour authorities have for the first time released a list of companies that have either seriously defaulted on wages, hired child labourers, or forced employees to work lengthy overtime.

One analyst described the move yesterday as a positive step towards protecting labour rights, but said it was a little late.

The Guangdong Labour and Social Security Department posted the blacklist on its website and pledged to expose such employers regularly, starting next month, the Beijing-based First Financial Daily reported.
