Anti-corruption campaigns in the past three years have netted more than 30,000 officials, according to a Legal Daily report published yesterday.
Quoting official statistics, the newspaper said 1,000 officials had been investigated or penalised after 20,000 cars were found to have been procured without approval; 823 million yuan had been recovered from officials who acquired 30,000 residences in breach of regulations; and 2.5 billion yuan in overdue loans owed by officials or granted illegally to their relatives had been identified.
About 8,000 officials were found to have taken up jobs in enterprises without prior approval.
The report did not mention what punishments had been meted out to the offending officials.
