Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong organised a range of summer programmes which helped broaden its students' horizons. The college aimed to enhance the students' international exposure as well as their leadership and language skills. About 200 Chung Chi students took part in various overseas placements, which proved to be very rewarding. Under the subsidised programmes, they attended summer classes or language courses at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, and University of California, Los Angeles, in the United States, as well as Cambridge and Oxford universities in Britain. Meanwhile, a total of 40 students went to France or Germany for about three weeks. Their schedules were packed with language classes, excursions and visits to museums and historical sites. Sponsored by the college, another 120 students participated in the Outward Bound Training Programme this summer to help strengthen their organisational and problem-solving skills.
