Breaking up is hard to do - especially when you find out your girlfriend of the past three months is a boy. The twisted tale of teenage love and angst ended with a 17-year-old being treated for stab wounds in Eastern Hospital after his jilted 15-year-old 'girlfriend' turned on him on Friday. The pair met while working part-time at a cafe in Victoria Park and dated for a while. The older boy was unaware the slender 15-year-old with long blond hair was also a boy, according to reports in Chinese-language papers. Police said the teenager, who lives with his grandparents, began dressing like a girl about two years ago. The older boy ended the relationship when he discovered his friend's true gender, but the younger boy pursued the romance. Police said the alleged attack took place at a flat in Chai Wan Road on Friday morning. 'The [15-year-old boy] became emotional and he began to beat the victim,' a police official said. 'He hit the victim with a wooden pole and also injured him with a knife. 'After the assault, he did not allow the victim to leave the flat.' The older boy also was scratched and kicked after he fell to the floor, police said. The 17-year-old waited until his attacker got drunk and fell asleep before he called a friend, who dialled 999. Both boys were taken to Eastern Hospital, where the older boy was treated and later discharged. Police released the younger boy on bail pending investigation.
