Champions Xiangxue Sun Hei registered their first win of the campaign in the Hong Kong first division with a convincing 3-1 victory over Citizen at Mongkok Stadium yesterday. Sun Hei had just returned from an unsuccessful trip to Beirut, where they were thrashed 3-0 by Lebanese champions Nejmeh Club in the semi-final first-leg of the AFC Cup and they were in no mood for defeat against struggling Citizen. Fladimir Freitas got the ball rolling for Sun Hei when he sidefooted the ball in from close range in the 11th minute. Veteran winger Lee Kin-wo put Sun Hei 2-0 in front in the 63rd minute with a delicate lob after picking up Chan Ho-man's pass before Citizen's So Yiu-man pulled a goal back in the 77th minute. Freitas rounded off a good afternoon's work by completing his brace three minutes from time by scoring from the rebound as Sun Hei grabbed their first points of the season, moving them up to sixth place in the eight-team table. Earlier, Happy Valley won a thriller against old rivals South China with Brazilian striker Clodoaldo de Oliveira scoring late in the game to secure a 4-3 victory.
