The Westin Resort Macau is joining its sister hotels in the group's new programme to keep travellers fit, entitled the 'Westin Work Out powered by Reebok'. The group has spent US$12 million to upgrade its gyms in Europe, the United States and Asia, and to develop extensive fitness and wellness programmes. State-of-the-art equipment has been installed in the gym and some guest rooms at the Macau resort. Use of the gym is free, but the workout guest rooms cost $150 more than regular rooms.

JIA Boutique Hotel's signature restaurant Opia is offering a four-course executive lunch menu for $180. Options from chef Teage Ezard's 'Australian freestyle' cuisine include the Japanese-inspired oyster shooters with mirin, tamari and seaweed green-tea soba rolls; a gratinated potato gnocchi dish with taleggio, shaved pear and toasted walnuts; crispy skinned Northern Territory barramundi with Chinese broccoli, steamed rice and a yellow-curry dressing; and pink grapefruit, gin and coriander sorbet with citrus fruit salad and a pistachio wafer for dessert. Le Meridien has opened a five-star hotel in Kota Kinabalu targeted at high-end leisure travellers and the MICE market. The ballroom seats 370 people and five meeting rooms can also cater to large functions. A special opening rate of M$270 ($540) is being offered until the end of the month.
