Followers of Racing tipsters enjoyed an enormous pay day, highlighted by a $2,689 quinella and $4,963 trio on the final event at Sha Tin on Sunday. Racing editor Murray Bell found $513 upset winner Dr More as his third selection in race 11, and also had the placegetters Shanghai Lad and Dashing Thunder in his minor selections. For those who enjoy playing tierce, coupling up his four selections represented a $51,277 windfall for a $10 ticket. Murray selected five quinellas and three trios on the day, but had to surrender in the quinella department to new recruit John Bell, who landed a total of six quinellas. The biggest payout for John's followers was the $394.50 for the Californiasunshine-Leilati quinella in race eight, where he also found the trio (Classic Delight ran third), which paid $1,076. John had Jockey Club commentator Mark Richards for company in correctly labelling the opening race quinella and trio of Treasure Colt, Red Storm Rising and Victory Code. That quinella paid $385 and the trio paid $667. Chief racing writer Alan Aitken's best bet Winning Bullet arrived safely at $18 and, as predicted, is a horse destined for the higher grades.
