Vietnamese-Chinese pair extradited from China convicted of executing five men in a gambling den raid that shocked city
Two men have been convicted of one of the most violent murders in Boston Chinatown's history - thanks to the testimony 14 years later of a victim who lived to tell the tale despite being shot in the head.
'It was one of the worst, most violent days in the history of Boston,' assistant district attorney John Powers said, referring to the morning of January 12, 1991, when Siny Van Tran, known as 'Toothless Wah', and Nam The Tham, known as Johnny Cheung, executed five men in the basement of a gambling den.
The two Vietnamese-Chinese have been convicted of first-degree murder, which carries a life sentence without parole.
Miraculously, a sixth victim - Pak Wing Lee, nicknamed Bruce Lee - crawled from the massacre alive, bleeding from gunshot wounds to the head.
He subsequently helped lift the lid on a gangland battle for gambling rackets that left carnage in its wake.
