DANISH SHOE COMPANY Ecco has no intention of settling for a niche market. The company's executives have set themselves the goal of making Ecco the most desirable brand in comfort footwear and are looking for recruits in Hong Kong to help fulfil this corporate mission.
The current expansion drive is expected to see a sharp rise in the number of staff at Ecco's Wan Chai office, headquarters for its operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
'Ecco has a long history in Hong Kong and Greater China,' said general manager Connie Lai. 'Before 2002, the brand was handled by distributors, but we decided to take back responsibility and started by setting up our own regional office. We then began Ecco Hong Kong in January 2004.'
The company is looking to fill a variety of positions. Ecco wants to expand its retail operations and strengthen existing alliances with wholesale partners. It will be looking for people with diverse backgrounds and experience to fill positions in merchandising, retail operations, logistics, training and frontline retail sales.
Ecco may not be as high-profile as some of its competitors, but Ms Lai said that could be an incentive for those keen to take on new challenges and seek new horizons to explore.
'This is a young growth-oriented company and, in the long term, our staff will be able to grow with us,' Ms Lai said.
