Jacqueline Wilson has quite a following at Chinese International School. When teachers asked for fans to pose for a photograph to illustrate the author's books they were swamped with volunteers. Tiffany Leung Wei-cheng, 12, said Wilson's main appeal was her humour: 'She's so funny and I think the best example is The Illustrated Mum, that's my favourite.' Denise Chang Xiubing, 12, agreed but said it was the fact that the books were based on real life that made them so readable: 'Take Best Friends, it's realistic, about a situation that could really happen.' The novel was about two girls, one of whom had to move away. They tried to keep in contact with each other but their parents didn't approve. 'It's got a happy ending, though,' she said. Sinaid Chiang Cheung Zhang-feng, also 12, said her favourite book was Double Act. 'It's written from a twins' perspective and I like the way that when you read it you feel as though you are a twin of a certain age. I like the scenario,' she said.
