Amedeo Modigliani's Portrait of Manuel Humbert is expected to fetch US$4-6 million at a Sotheby's auction of Impressionist and modern art next month. The Modigliani is one of four masterpieces in Hong Kong for a private preview. Another is Le Grand Canal by Claude Monet, estimated to bring US$12-16 million. Also on show is Henri Matisse's Yellow Dress and Harlequin Costume, which depicts two of his favourite models, Lydia Delectorskaya and Nezy Hamid Chawat, and Francis Bacon's Three Studies for Self-Portrait. The paintings will be among 248 pieces that will be up for sale in New York on November 2 and 3.
