A Chinese national whose 14-year-old son was murdered last year has arrived in Malaysia on a quest for justice after the three men accused of the crime were acquitted.

Construction worker Xu Jinlai, 40 from Fuijan in China, is after the men who tortured his son, Xu Jian Huang, before tying him up and throwing him into a swimming pool where he drowned.

Prominent stock broker Koh Kim Teck, a distant relative of Mr Xu, and Mr Koh's two bodyguards, were charged with Jian Huang's murder, but the case was dismissed last month.

'How can this happen ... Isn't there justice in Malaysia? Don't police protect the innocent? I just want justice,' Mr Xu said after arriving in Malaysia last week.

His son had gone to Malaysia to study English and was living at Mr Koh's house. His battered body was found floating in Mr Koh's swimming pool last September. The prosecution argued that the three accused men had tortured and killed Jian Huang after failing to recover money the boy had allegedly stolen from Mr Koh.

But the judge cited a poor police investigation, their failure to call key witnesses and allegations police had demanded M$5 million ($10.2 million) from the accused to scuttle the case. That allegation has been strenuously denied by police, both inside and outside court.
