A deaf-mute boy raped his 14-year-old former girlfriend after she told him she did not want to get back together with him, a court heard yesterday.
The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named, is charged with one count of rape and one count of having unlawful sex with a girl under 16 in June last year.
The accused and the alleged victim attended the same school for deaf-mute students. They started a relationship in 2003 that ended just before the alleged rape.
The Court of First Instance was told that at 7.30am on June 12, the boy turned up at the girl's house, saying he needed to collect a pair of football shorts he had left there.
The girl's sister and mother had left for work, but she allowed the boy to enter after he indicated he needed to use the toilet.
While they were sitting in the living room, he asked her whether she was sure she wanted to end their relationship.
