An exhibition gallery, a website and a slogan competition have been launched simultaneously to raise public awareness of the 2009 East Asian Games which will be hosted by Hong Hong. Timothy Fok Tsan-ting, chairman of the Planning Committee of the fifth East Asian Games which will be held in Macau later this month, said it was essential to have the support of all sections of the community. Anissa Wong Sean-yee, Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, said the Macau competition was a valuable opportunity for Hong Kong to showcase itself as the 'Asian Events Capital' and called on the whole community to participate. The Planning Committee has organised a series of promotional activities in preparation for this month's Games. An emblem design competition was held earlier this year, and a slogan competition is now accepting entries. The organisers are looking for original entries which best embrace the spirit and values of the East Asian Games and highlight the unique qualities of Hong Kong. The competition is open to students as well as the greater public and runs until November 30. All slogans should be in both Chinese and English and easy to recite. Entries can be submitted by hand, post or online. The winner will receive $30,000, together with two tickets to the opening ceremony of the 2009 Games in Hong Kong.
