Name: Sharon Li See-wai School: Island School Grade: Year Eight (Form Two) Sport: Golf Achievements: Sharon, 11, stunned more experienced, older rivals when she won a three-day amateur tournament recently. The Hong Kong elite junior squad member was at her best as she clinched the Division Two title in the Hong Kong Ladies Amateur Open. She can drive the ball 260 yards, and recently improved her best-ever score to 77, which she achieved on the new course at Fanling. She trains once a week with the Hong Kong Golf Association's elite junior squad, and hones her skills at weekends. Soundbite: 'Golf requires good concentration. You must stay mentally focused. I try not to talk with other competitors too much. If you lose focus, you lose the game. My goal is always to beat my best score.' From her coach: 'When Sharon first joined the programme, she was quite inexperienced, but she has made fast progress,' said Brad Schadewitz, Hong Kong elite junior squad coach. 'She has tremendous potential because she is powerful. It's a very important skill in the junior game. When her short game develops, she will be a good player.' Ambitions: 'I want to play as well as I possibly can every time, keep improving, and be consistent. I'd like to play in the MacGregor Junior Open again, and as many other tournaments as possible. I want to find out how good I can be, before I get too serious about it.'
