A surveyor has agreed to let Rolex help her get a refund for a watch she claims caused an allergic skin reaction.
Lee Ka-wai, who has filed a claim at the Small Claims Tribunal against Rolex (Hong Hong) Ltd, yesterday accepted an offer from Rolex to mediate in a dispute between herself and the watch seller, Oriental Watch Company.
Ms Lee told the tribunal she would be happy with even a partial refund for the Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch she bought from the watch seller in August last year for $30,000.
As a result, Adjudicator Katina Levy adjourned the case indefinitely to allow time for the parties concerned to find a solution.
Ms Lee contended in her amended claim that the skin allergy was caused by the removable label at the back of the watch.
She argued that Rolex was negligent for failing to remind consumers to remove the label when they bought the watch.
