A TEENAGER who took part in a revenge attack in which a young man died after being stabbed more than 30 times, failed to convince the Court of Appeal he was wrongly convicted of murder.
The court, comprising Vice-President Mr Justice Macdougall, Mr Justice Bokhary and Mr Justice Mortimer, dismissing the appeal lodged by Wong Tat-ya, was satisfied that nothing had suggested the conviction was unsafe and unsatisfactory.
Wong was found guilty by a High Court jury after trial on February 19, last year, of the murder of Shek Chi-ming, 18.
Since he was under 18 at the time of the offence, Mr Justice Bewley had ordered him be detained at Her Majesty's pleasure.
Despite a Queen's Counsel and a barrister both believing there was no merits in the appeal, Wong, now 19, decided to go ahead with the application.
The court heard the attack occurred in the rest area at Ho Man Tin estate in the early hours of November 5, 1990.
