GREEDY businessman Tam Chi-hung swindled his suppliers of millions of dollars in goods, the District Court heard yesterday. Tam, 38, ordered miscellaneous goods including watch cases, laser discs and machinery including lathes from various companies. He paid his suppliers with cheques which his bank bounced for lack of funds. Tam did not return the goods, worth $1.5 million. Tam, whose office was in Chai Wan Kok Street, Tsuen Wan, admitted seven charges of deception before Judge Caird and will be sentenced on Monday. Peter Cosgrove, representing Tam, said: ''He accepts it was a criminal enterprise borne out of greed.'' He added that Tam, who has previous convictions for fraud, had never sought to deny his guilt.
