Note to all entertainment agents, singer John Malig is looking for a manager. The crooner's burgeoning career has reached the point where he needs someone to handle the business and bookings. Giving up his modelling agency in 1995, the half Portuguese, half Persian and Hong Kong native decided to pursue his love of music. With the dearth of quality male vocalists around town, he has become hot property for swanky events and formal galas needing someone with a classy repertoire. 'I sing standards and swing,' Malig declares. 'Everything from Sinatra, Dean Martin to Nat King Cole. The trend now is towards a greater appreciation of these older kinds of music. And it's happening here for me, but the hardest part is me trying to sell myself. I've been lucky in that people see me at one event and book me for other gigs or I get referrals that way too.' If you want to see Malig and his four-piece band for yourself, he's at Hotel Miramar's Eyes tonight and tomorrow.
