hsbc scholarships

HSBC is to donate more than $910,000 towards scholarships and programmes at universities in Hong Kong to promote internationalisation and diversity. $670,000 will be for scholarships targeted at mainland students, international students, Hong Kong students studying on the mainland and students with disabilities.

six to be honoured

Dr Lien Chan, a former chairman of the Kuomintang and vice-president of Taiwan, is among six people due to receive honorary degrees from Chinese University on December 8. Others are former CUHK vice-chancellor Ambrose King Yeo-chi, HSBC chairman Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen, anthropologist Li Yihyuan, biologist and Nobel Laureate Dr Richard J Roberts, and Wang Daohan, former Shanghai mayor and head of the Association for Cross Strait Relations.
