New DSS school to offer IB at all levels
New schools in the pipeline include a Direct Subsidy Scheme school that plans to offer the International Baccalaureate at all levels.
The through-train school in Yuen Long will be run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong and Andy Fung Wa-chau, currently principal of Yuen Long Lutheran College, will become its principal when it opens.
'We plan to offer the IB curriculum in parallel with the local curriculum,' Mr Fung said. While the majority of local students would take local examinations, brighter students would be given the option of taking the IB at the same time.
The Direct Subsidy Scheme HKUGA College, meanwhile, has announced it will offer the IB diploma when it opens in Islands South district next year. It plans to phase in the IB at other levels at a later date.
