Five years after the dotcom bubble burst, mainland firms are adopting new technologies to build their business-to-business electronic commerce infrastructure to link up partners and customers worldwide.

'Today's global business environment, where businesses are outsourcing a great deal of their manufacturing and business processes, dictates that companies thoroughly integrate their trading partners in an efficient, cost-effective manner,' said Steve Keifer, vice-president for industry and product marketing at e-commerce systems supplier GXS International.

Maryland-based GXS is in the middle of this B2B e-commerce resurgence with mainland customers such as logistics services provider Sinotrans, Baosteel Group subsidiary Bsteel Online, and Sai Cheng Logistics, a joint venture between China Post and Australia Post.

GXS has teamed up with business software specialist webMethods to offer GXS Enterprise Gateway and GXS Partner Gateway products, which combine select software and services to speed up configuration and tighten integration of supply chain networks.
