The collaboration of two universities has given students a better insight into the mainland, Hong Kong and world markets

COLLABORATION between the University of Hong Kong and Fudan University has created a strong knowledge platform for graduates of their joint Master of Business Administration (International) programme to make their mark in the business world, according to academics from the mainland and Hong Kong.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in the Shanghai Grand Theatre last month of the sixth stream of the HKU-Fudan University IMBA programme, the academics reminded the 290 graduates that knowledge of market trends in the mainland and globally was essential for success. The two-year, part-time programme was repeatedly acknowledged for the strength of its English-language instruction, the business standing of its students and alumni, and its in-depth understanding of the mainland and international markets.

Yin Zhiwen, Fudan's IMBA programme director, said HKU had proved an ideal partner for business education.

He said one of the attractions was that HKU knew the Chinese market and many of its professors were mainlanders who had received doctorates abroad.

'In a programme offered by two universities, you don't want students coming to you and saying 'you're weaker than your partner'. With two partners, everybody is trying to offer the best course and trying to persuade those best professors to teach in the programme. That is also a strength for the co-operation between the two universities,' Dr Yin said.
