Psychedelic popsters The Dandy Warhols may not be a household name, but their cult status has seen the American band through 10 years and earned them a spot as David Bowie's opening act for his 2003 tour.

Their fifth and latest album, Odditorium or Warlords of Mars, is an interesting mix of eclectic sounds ranging from synth pop (Love is the New Feel Awful) to country (The New Country).

Lead singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor's trademark breathy vocals are well-matched to the psychedelic soundscape.

Odditorium is an unconventional album filled with indefinable musical elements, but the drawback is that it's not a well-structured one.

Some tracks are simply too long, such as the seven-minute Easy and the 11-minute A Loan Tonight. It sounds as if the Dandies are enjoying an improvisational, never-ending jam or have recorded the album at a party in a country house, with a dog barking in the track Did You Make a Song with Otis.
