Panerai Luminor Power Reserve Regatta  ($42,000)

The aquatic association continues with the brand's close link to the Classic Yachts Challenge. The limited edition Luminor Power Reserve Regatta (left),  launched this year, is the official watch of that event. Seafarers will find a kindred spirit in a watch that sports a 44mm steel case and houses the Panerai Op IX calibre with a power reserve of 42 hours. The signature bridge protecting the winding crown ensures its resistance to water pressure at a depth of 300 metres.

Its simple dial is characteristic of the Calatrava line, first introduced in 1932. In a new interpretation, the Calatrava ref 6000 (below) uses an analogue date, a rare but popular complication in the 1930s. The date is indicated by the crescent moon on the tip of the calendar hand, while a smaller dial is used to indicate seconds. It denotes fundamental reliability, just like pinstripes do.
