A woman at a Rugby Sevens party threatened a security guard with violence after her boyfriend was forced to leave the party, a court heard yesterday.

Briton Thomas Hall, a volunteer security guard at the post-game party eight months ago, said Jocelyn Rivera Tan's boyfriend misbehaved at the party at the Indian Recreation Club in Happy Valley and was ordered to leave. Tan and Mr Hall then got in an argument.

Mr Hall said Tan told him: 'My friends will come, they'll cut you.'

He told the District Court Tan 'swiped' his face with her mobile phone, but he conceded he was not injured and no marks were left on his face.

Tan, 41, is accused of threatening Mr Hall with injury on March 20. She also faces another charge of assaulting Mr Hall on the same night. She has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Tan, with other unknown people, faces another charge of wounding Benjamin Ford with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm outside the club. She has also denied that charge.

Mr Hall told defence counsel Lawrence Lok SC during cross-examination that at the time he did not think much about Tan's threat and assault.
