Mobile phones and PDAs are becoming increasingly powerful - almost powerful enough to replace laptop computers.
However, it's quite difficult to enter text into portable devices because of their small size.
Taiwanese company Dopod has created a couple of interesting products that are small in size but have a Qwerty keyboard.
The Dopod 838 and 900 both come with an integrated keyboard and are powered by the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system.
The 838's keyboard is revealed by sliding the display horizontally. When closed, the display is like that of other PDAs - in portrait mode - but when once you open up the keyboard, the colour display automatically switches itself to landscape mode.
The 900 is similar, except that its display is built on a hinge that flips open and rotates 180 degrees. With the 900 (above), you can use it like a mini-laptop, or turn the display to the outside and use it like a PDA. Both devices have all the features of the Windows Mobile platform, which means you can access a majority of media files, as well as connect to the internet using the built-in browser.
In addition, they are not simply PDAs, but also mobile phones. The 900 is 3G-enabled, while the 838 is a standard GSM phone with GPRS capability. Both come equipped with a 1.3-megapixel digital camera and an abundance of connectivity features, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
