Munsang College in Kowloon City is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.
Alumni Rayson Huang and Sung Wing-lam were the guest speakers at a seminar titled 'Past and Future', which was held to mark the occasion.
Dr Huang, the first Chinese vice-chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (1972-1986), joined Munsang College in 1928 - two years after it was established - and left in 1937.
Recalling his school days, Dr Huang said things were very different then.
In contrast to the modern facilities available to today's students, he said they had to endure very difficult conditions 70 years ago.
But that did not deter outstanding students from achieving their goals, Dr Huang said. He urged students not to think about material comforts and do their best at all times.
Dr Sung, who graduated from the school in 1965, is the principal research officer at the National Research Council for Biological Sciences in Ottawa, Canada.
