Christine Seeman Ho & Kabo

Christine Seeman Ho is an artist who's clearly attempting to do things on her own terms. Seeman's Backyard, her cramped, independent space down a SoHo alley, is filled with cutouts, drawings, sculptures and several large photos by her Japanese collaborator, Kabo. This series of works is the beginning of a cooperative venture.
Ho's installations, paintings and sculptures range from the playful to the macabre. But most intriguing are Kabo's photos of Ho posing dramatically in various urban or natural settings (below). The images are well crafted and visually powerful.
Unfortunately, the space is filled with many objects made by Ho that apparently have nothing to do with the show, marring an otherwise interesting collaboration. (Nonetheless, you could spend hours moving through the disarray, discovering dozens of interesting objects.)
