What: The Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS) was established in 1938 and was originally known as the Social Service Centre of the Churches. It assists and counsels families in distress and also conducts work involving children, youths, single parents, new arrivals and the elderly.

How: Visit www.hkfws.org.hk or call 2527 3171 for more information. The organisation provides a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for young people. They are now recruiting volunteers for a raffle ticket sale to be held over the next two months. Other volunteer activities include flag- selling for the Community Chest on November 26.

Teen volunteer: Tsoi Ching, 15, is a fourth former at Po Kok Secondary School. She joined HKFWS three years ago.

'In Form One, I joined the Understanding the Adolescent Project run by social workers from HKFWS. The programme offers leadership training, camping activities and opportunities to take part in social services. We mainly serve children and teenagers.

Sometimes we organise visits to The Peak for children and arrange games for them at the organisation's centre.

I don't have any siblings, so playing with children is a special activity for me.
