iAudio U3: The U3 is another portable media player that does nearly everything under the sun. It plays back music and displays photos and MPEG-4 movies on its 3cm, 260,000-colour LCD screen. But like other tiny players that claim a multitude of functions, the U3 suffers some drawbacks, such as movie playback at only 15 frames per second. The U3 is available with 1GB or 2GB of memory. (Price: starts at about $2,700)

SonyEricsson Z300i: This new model from SonyEricsson is part of the company's new line of entry-level phones. The Z300 doesn't have a camera, nor support for 3G, but it does come with a clamshell case sporting an external display that doubles as a watch - like the SonyEricsson Z200. It won't be the sleekest phone around, but the Z300 is equipped with a 65,000-colour LCD display and standard GPRS support. Look for it when it arrives in shops early next year. (Price: to be determined)

Canon MVX4i: Unlike many compact camcorders that have adopted microdrives or hard disks, Canon's new MVX4i still uses standard MiniDV to store video. But it offers a compact design that should fit in most jacket pockets. Despite its size, the MVX4i is no slouch in features, offering a 10X optical zoom and a sizable 6cm colour display. The MVX4i also takes 4-megapixel still images. Battery life, however, is limited to about an hour of non-stop usage. (Price: $9,480)
