You can have fun in a beautiful island setting, and all for a good cause. Today's Lamma Fun Day is sure to put a smile on your face, with a variety of family entertainment lined up from 10am to 10pm.
Money raised from the event will go to the Child Welfare Scheme, which benefits underprivileged children in Nepal.
Fun-seekers can take part in face painting, relay races and drama activities at Tai Wan To Beach (Power Station Beach) - a 20 to 30 minute walk from Yung Shue Wan Pier.
Stalls will be selling an array of items ranging from food, exotic handicrafts, aromatherapy products and second-hand goods such as clothes, books, and electronic gadgets. Sports fans can watch the exciting volleyball tournament taking place in the afternoon.
Music lovers can tune into local bands such as Garoupa, Jovelyn, Over a Dogma, Red Star Rising and the Yung Shue Wankers, who will perform live starting from noon. Between sets, DJ Steve Bruce will be spinning tunes and MC Les will auction off items, such as passes to Pure Fitness and California Fitness.
But no Lamma Fun Day - now in its sixth year - is complete without volunteer support. 'Putting this sort of event together is hard work, as you're reliant on volunteers who have busy schedules and many other things going on,' said Sonya Yeung, who used to be a general volunteer but has been the event's chief co-ordinator for the past two years.
