Agreement boosts links with British institutes

An agreement has been signed to strengthen cultural and academic exchange between Hong Kong students and their counterparts in Britain.

The first HK-UK Memorandum of Understanding on Internationalisation of Higher Education was

signed at the British Council this week.

Education officials from Hong Kong and Britain who attended the ceremony said the pact would boost co-operation among tertiary institutes.

The agreement was signed by president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Poon Chung-kwong, who is also the convenor of the Heads of Universities Committee, and principal of the University of Stirling Christine Hallett.

It marks the beginning of long-term co-operation between Hong Kong and Britain aimed at internationalising their higher-education sectors.

The agreement will also help to broaden students' perspectives by enhancing cultural and academic exchange between Hong Kong and British institutes.
