HISTORY OF BRAZILIAN JIUJITSU
Different forms of Japanese martial arts and self-defence techniques have been used and developed for centuries. Most modern jiujitsu traditions, such as judo (on which Brazilian jiujitsu is based), were founded in the 19th century. The current form has been shaped over almost a century of practice and sparring in South America and now further afield.
